CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY TOUR [06.20.2018]

We changed our itinerary a few times, but we ended up doing Cagayan de Oro on Day 1, Camiguin on Day 2 and 3, and Bukidnon on Day 3. So lemme divide this travel blog into three parts.

I initially wanted to go to Seven Seas Waterpark, but we didn’t have time so we decided to just do a city tour in Cagayan de Oro. Our first day was supposed to be in Bukidnon but the flight was a little delayed, and so we missed the van from the airport to Dahilayan. We decided to go straight to the city center and check in first. There are vans that go straight to the city center and we took Magnum Express (since it’s the most famous one LOL) and their office is at LimKetKai Mall. We asked if they can take us to Agora since they did advertise that it goes to Agora Terminal.

We stayed at Winmin Transient Inn, located at Agora Terminal. Ok, this is the best place to stay at if you’re on a budget. I booked this through Agoda and I only paid PHP676. Your 24-hr stay starts by the time you check in, which is awesome! We got there before the “normal” check-in time, which is 2pm and we leave for Camiguin really early the next day so this was amazing. The location is also great cause it’s in the main bus terminal, so there are stores and restaurants that are open 24 hours, and since we’re going to Bukidnon and Camiguin as well, we can just get a ride from there.

The room is also quite nice, I mean super decent for something that is only around PHP700. We were pleasantly surprised. They also have this baggage service, where you pay per hour but it’s only like PHP15 I think. We did that on our last day when we went to Bukidnon, we were gone for about 8 hrs and we only paid around PHP135 – so cheap! There are also vans to the airport from there – so convenient! I really think we made a good decision booking here.

We couldn’t go to Divine Mercy cause it was kind of out of the way, it’s closer to the airport than the city center. We went to places that are close and we actually rode the multicab a few times, and walked some, too. It was around noon when we started so we went to the malls first. Also, since the malls are located in the same area. We were only able to go to two – LimKetKai Mall and Ayala Centrio. I liked Centrio better – there’s a garden in the center and I thought it was pretty.

We walked to Vicente de Lara Park from Centrio.Nothing much to see here, but it’s also where the Provincial Capitol of Misamis Oriental is located.

We took a multicab to Plaza Divisoria and just walked around. Plaza Divisoria is a park dedicated to national and local heroes. This is a statue of a former Cagayan de Oro city mayor.

Xavier University – CDO is at the end of that street where Plaza Divisoria is. I just took a photo from outside.

San Agustin Cathedral is in the same area of Gaston Park. This is a beautiful church. Didn’t go inside though cause I felt what I was wearing was inappropriate.

Gaston Park is our last stop, where we rested a bit before going back to the inn. It was already around 5pm at this time and we were dead-tired. We took a cab back to Winmin and had a nap. I actually went straight from work so I was really sleepy. We woke up at around 8pm cause we were hungry. Good thing, there are a lot of places to go to inside the terminal so we really didn’t have to go far.
