When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? Are the two connected?
I remember that whenever I get to this question on slum books when I was in grade school, I would answer “businesswoman”. I guess that was the easiest answer I could come up with. I feel like it’s a staple child answer. Which is weird because knowing the person I have become, I think I would be a terrible businesswoman. I can’t even sell things. LOL. So I don’t think I will ever be one.
I currently work as a Career Care Specialist, and I do a combination of customer service and do some career coaching as well. They are not connected at all. I have been in customer service for a while, but career coaching is a new territory for me. When I applied for this job, I knew nothing about the service, but when I was introduced to it during our first week of training, I was very impressed with it and was surprised that such service exists. I always talk about it with friends and even they are very curious and amazed at what we do. I have said before that for me to work well in my job, I need to believe in the product or service of the company I work for. I have finally found. I am absolutely proud of what we do and I’m happy to be supporting our fabulous career coaches.
In the future, I would like to go back to teaching though. I don’t have an Education degree, but I would like to go back to school and do that. I taught ESL for almost 5 years and to this day, that’s my favorite job I’ve done. It’s so satisfying, and I get to learn a lot everyday while talking to my students. That is definitely something I’d want to go back to in the future.
