We agreed to pick one more hotel to stay at to take a vacation from our vacation. We also wanted to see Punta Bunga Beach. So, considering our budget, we decided to stay overnight at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay. We have an option to do a day pass at any of the three resorts, but then, after seeing Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay’s room promo, we decided to just stay overnight there since the price difference is not that much. For context, the day pass for both Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay and Crimson Resort is PHP 2000, and I think 1500 is consumable.
So we booked the room at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay and it cost us PHP6699 or PHP2233 per person, which is basically the room for two plus extra person (PHP4399 + PHP2300). I mean, that is not so bad. Staying at Crimson or Shangri-La for a night is too expensive for us.
We booked on a Sunday, packed a backpack and we just took a tricycle to the gate of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay. At least this time, we didn’t have to walk up to the gate and knock at the guard house. LOL. There’s a long road going inside to the gate of the resort so you will need to hire a tricycle to go inside. We actually went pretty early, around noon. I mean, nowadays, resorts and hotels aren’t really strict with the check-in time anymore because there’s really not a lot of people checking in. There are a lot of empty rooms!
We were on the 4th floor in a building that has a view of the sea from the balcony. This view was to die for! The room has two beds, and pretty much everything a hotel room can have – can’t really complain. I think the only thing we didn’t get to experience was the television. We didn’t bother calling the reception to ask how to make it work because we were too sleepy to watch anything anyway. I’m sure they could have helped us with it if we asked.
After basking in the beauty of our room, the first thing we did was, of course, get our welcome drinks. The drinks are at the Sol Marina Beach Club, which is their bar right in front of the beach. But before that, we had to ask where the famous MovenSwing was. So went there and took pics.
We weren’t actually planning to swim right away but then it was so hot and the pool was quite a walk from our room. Good thing, we had our swimsuits with us. Irick didn’t so she had to go back and was nice enough to get me my slippers from my backpack as well. So we had our welcome drink, which is a watermelon shake, and then proceeded to the pool. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay has the biggest pool in Boracay and it is multi-level, too. It’s such a huge pool for just a few people in the resort, so you don’t need to worry about social distancing.
We had breakfast, but didn’t have lunch so at around 2:30pm, we got a bit hungry. Gelai took a nap, so Irick and I ordered a “light snack”. We ordered a sandwich with a side of fries. It’s big enough for us to share.
At 4pm, they have a Mövenpick Chocolate Hour. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay is a Swiss hotel chain and since Switzerland is famous for its chocolates, they have a chocolate hour. This is so interesting! I have never had a chocolate buffet before. So basically, you can eat as much chocolate as you want for an hour. Of course, we had to get some coffee along with the chocolates.
After the chocolate hour, we finally decided to swim in the sea and enjoy the sunset. Since Punta Bunga Beach is located in the northern part of the island, the sunset here is freaking amazing. Of course, we took so many photos. LOL. I still haven’t posted all of them on Instagram because there’s just too many. LOL.
We also had our dinner at the restaurant since we didn’t really want to go out for that. The food is definitely more expensive than most restaurants in Boracay. If I would compare it to Fairways, it is definitely more expensive here at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay. I can’t believe I don’t have photos but we ordered rice, two dishes, and our drinks. I don’t know why it took us so long to finish our food though, we were really struggling. Maybe we were still full from the chocolates.
We were out of the room the entire afternoon because it was kind of far from where the pool area and beach are. It is quite a long walk so we didn’t go back to the room until we were done with dinner. We didn’t even bother showering and changing for dinner. We ate in our swimsuits and just washed up at the end of the day. We were planning to watch a movie to cap our day but we ended up sleeping almost immediately. LOL.
We wake up early the next morning. We wanted to try if we’ll wake up at around 5am-ish, but we still went down at around 7am for breakfast. LOL. We brought everything we needed for the day and we just went back to our room an hour before checkout so we can wash up and pack our stuff.
I had three plates for breakfast but I only have this photo as proof. I always end up only taking photos of dessert when I go to buffets because I’m always hungry. LOL.
Another day, another session of taking so many photos. LOL. There is a lone coconut tree in front of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay, but we couldn’t take photos here the day before because there were some guests staying there since that’s the only tree that provides a bit of shade. But since we woke up early, we had the opportunity to take a lot of photos here. ^^
After spending some time in the sea, we were back in Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay’s humongous pool. Most guests woke up pretty late so once again, we had the pool all to ourselves. We pretty much spent the whole morning in the pool and just chilling on the day beds and lounge chairs.
We checked out at noon and at that point, I didn’t have a lot of energy left and was so sleepy. When we got home, I literally changed and took a nap.
Is it worth it to stay here? I would definitely say so! The room is really nice, the bathroom is huge, the room has everything you need, the resort has a really big pool, you have a private beach. Just expect to pay more if you would like to eat in the resort.
Gelai and I got featured on Movenpick’s Instagram just a few weeks ago ^^
