Aug 19: On the edge

We all have things as need to do to keep an even keel — blogging, exercising, reading, cooking. What’s yours?

This is very timely question, because we are living in uncertain times and it’s so easy to go crazy! I go through it every now and then, and usually takes a few days before I recover from it. With everything that’s going on, it’s really hard to maintain some sort of balance.

For me, it is actually travelling. That’s why I am always the first one on queue whenever airlines have seat sales. That’s why I always schedule something, whether it’s just for a weekend or like a week out of the country. It’s what keeps me sane. I live with my family and it’s not the best setup and sometimes, I would get stressed about it. Sometimes, work can be really stressful as well, so it’s so therapeutic for me when I know that I can look forward to even a short holiday at the beach or something. Like, even with a really stressful work week, you at least feel better and forget about things for a while during the weekend before you face another tedious work week. But with the pandemic, I obviously cannot do that. Weekdays and weekends are the same. Days and nights are the same. We don’t even know what day it is anymore. I don’t know when I will be able to travel again. I have a flight next month that I will most likely rebook to take next year. Since we can’t go out, I need to be more creative to keep an even keel.

During this quarantine, doing different hobbies has helped a lot. I have been blogging a lot, pretty much just writing about anything and everything. Funny, I used to not write too many personal stuff on here, but now, they’re all I talk about. I have been taking care of plants and so far, nothing has died. I have been doing embroidery and macrame, but I’ve had enough of that too quickly. I have slowly turned my room around doing as many DIYs I could. I have been catching up with TV series and movies. Basically, everything and anything one can do to ease boredom and restlessness. I do think that maybe it’s time for me to really buy a new sewing machine. Maybe upcycling clothes would be my new favorite thing to do. Putting that in my September shopping list. LOL.
