We stayed a total of 10 days in Dumaguete and Siquijor and I’m actually surprised that we didn’t try a lot of restaurants. Or maybe I just didn’t take a lot of photos. Also, normally, we would have lunch or snacks at the tourist attraction we are in Dumaguete and Siquijor (for example, PulangBato Falls, Salagdoong Beach, and Forest Camp), so I probably wouldn’t include those here.

Flamin’ Grill

We checked in at our hotel in Dumaguete at around 8:30pm and I had work at 10:30pm so we needed to have dinner fast before my shift. Our hotel has a restaurant downstairs, but it was a holiday and they were closed. Luckily, we have Flamin Grill next door and this was such a cute place and their food is really delicious, too. Kevin ordered their classic bbq ribs (he likes anything barbecue, I soon realized LOL) and I ordered the Kiwi burger. We also had two orders of fries and a pitcher of iced tea. I love how their menu is so detailed. Kiwi burger has all of my favorite things in a burger like pineapple, egg, and onion rings. It was huge, so it was such a mess when I ate it, but it was good. I definitely had difficulty finishing all of it since it was such a huge burger. It’s kind of a bummer that we didn’t go back here because they had a lot of good stuff on their menu. Definitely recommend!

Kansi sa Piapi

We passed by this restaurant on the way back from grocery shopping at City Mall. (By the way, grocery shopping at City Mall is such a Boracay thing to do. LOL.) This was unplanned and Kevin wanted to try it. I had a bad experience with kansi in Bacolod, but I was still up for it. Kansi is a Visayan beef soup that is like a lovechild of sinigang and bulalo. No photos here, unfortunately. If you’re looking for cheap eats and want to try kansi, then go to this restaurant.

Sans Rival

We planned to have dinner at home since we went grocery shopping during the day and bought ingredients for our meal. But we decided to try Sans Rival after renting our scooter, just for cake and some drinks. We ordered a Rocher loaf, Kevin ordered hazelnut brittle latte and I ordered, Green Earth, which is a healthy shake. The Rocher loaf was a lot, honestly, a bar would have sufficed LOL. That was definitely a mistake, because this was heavy. We had one slice each and took the rest home. Unfortunately, we didn’t even eat this at the hotel, we ended up giving it to our neighbor before we left for Siquijor two days later. Kevin’s iced latte was also really sweet, but I kind of expected that since it had hazelnut. I really liked my drink, though! My body definitely needed some healing properties, and Kevin liked it, too.

I don’t know what it is but I feel like I end up getting into a fight/argument/misunderstanding whenever I’m here. I’m two for two. LOL. But the difference this time is that mitigated asap, which is great. LOL.

Gabby’s Bistro

Ok, this is my favorite out of the restaurants we tried in Dumaguete during this trip. This is located in one of the buildings along Rizal Boulevard so you have a good view of the sea. I believe they have another branch closer to the airport because I saw it on the way to the airport when I was leaving Dumaguete. We decided to have lunch here and hang out since we have two hours to kill before we had to go to the Dumaguete Port for our ferry ride to Siquijor. I super love the interior of the restaurant, it’s so cute and on top of that, the food was really good, too. Kevin was in the mood for a burger so he ordered a cheeseburger, I ordered chicken pesto pasta and we shared a basket of fries (per usual). We then had coffee afterward, Kevin ordered black brewed coffee (I think) while I had iced coffee.

This is a great place to hang out in if you want to chill for a few hours because they have comfortable couches and outdoor seats. We were here for lunch, so it was too hot to dine outside, but it would be perfect to do that during sunset or evening.

Sakura Japanese Restaurant

I had lunch here by myself when I landed in Dumaguete from Siquijor. Kevin went on to continue his trip to Bohol, while I went back to Manila because I had work that night. I arrived in Dumaguete at noon, so it was freaking hot. I remember that there were restaurants near the port so I walked that way going to Hibbard Avenue, and I found this little Japanese restaurant. At that point, I had a few hours to kill before I had to go to the airport for my flight. It was also almost empty, which was perfect.

I ordered oyakodon and blueberry milkshake, it was a simple meal, but I liked it! I would have wanted some coffee, because I haven’t had one since I woke up this morning. Unfortunately, they don’t have that on their menu and that brings me to the next restaurant.

The Rollin’ Pin

Opening hours: Mon-Sat, 7am-5pm

After having lunch at Sakura, I went to the coffee shop next door for coffee. Since this is located near Silliman University, I think this is a hangout for students because other than me and another table, everyone else seemed like students. Unfortunately, I do not have photos here because I just ordered iced coffee, edited a video for Instagram reels as I sip my coffee, and then left to go to the airport. Really chill place, though, and I think another perfect place to stay in if you would like to kill some time in Dumaguete.

Baha Bar

Address: San Juan, Maite, Siquijor, 6227 Siquijor
Opening hours: Mon-Sun, 11am-11pm

This is my favorite restaurant we visited in Siquijor. We ate here twice because this is one of the few places that’s open until 11pm. We went to the scooter rental place at around 8pm and we didn’t really find anything open in Siquijor. While driving to San Juan, and Baha Bar was the first place we saw that looked alive. LOL. And boy I’m glad we found this place because they always have a band playing, the place is so cozy, and the food is really good, too.

The first time we went, I had chicken adobo and Kevin had the honey-glazed chicken wings. On the second night, we switched and he’s the one who ordered the adobo (pork this time), while I ordered chicken wings (buffalo wings this time). I feel like the wings are much bigger this time around and I had to enlist his help in finishing them all. See the difference in the photos? My buffalo wings plate was definitely fuller than his. Oh, and we also ordered calamares because we wanted to order this the night before in that beachfront restaurant but they didn’t have it. LOL.

Local Barbecue Place in Siquijor

Ok, I don’t know what to call this place, but this is located in the basketball court or playground where the I Love Siquijor sign is. There are different barbecue stalls and there are tables and chairs where you can have your meal. We were staying at DasTraum at this time and we were on our way to San Juan for dinner, when we passed by this area. We decided to eat here instead, so we parked our scooter and selected from the many stalls. Kevin went crazy with the barbecue (he loves barbecue LOL) and I, of course, went with isaw and hotdog. This is my usual order. You can also order rice (puso), we each had a small Coke and used our hands to eat. I’m so glad we experienced this in Siquijor. They had very good barbecues and were budget-friendly, too.

Mr. Sumo

Kevin saw this restaurant while we were still checked in at Das Traum, but they open quite late and close early (by our standards since we normally go out for dinner at 8pm, LOL). When we moved to Cliff Garden, we were going to order on Facebook and have it delivered there, but the delivery fee is PHP150, so we thought, we’ll just go there. This is in Solangon so it was not far from Cliff Garden. We decided to have lunch here before going to the falls and hitting the beach. We ordered three different types of sushi (tuna roll, California maki, and tuna aburi) and we loved all of them. I truly enjoyed my matcha brown sugar milk tea, too.

We dined outside so unfortunately, I don’t have photos of the restaurant, but it’s really cute! Definitely recommendable if you are craving sushi!

Rogelio’s Beach Bar

We always do not plan where to eat for dinner. Well, I guess the plan is just to drive to San Juan and find place that’s open, and this is one of those restaurants that we saw while driving to San Juan. We saw that there were many patrons, they have a band and it’s beachfront, so why not. This is in the same place as Tropical Fun Ta Sea Rentals, so you won’t miss that sign for sure.

Unfortunately, I do not have photos here either – I don’t know, maybe I was a bit self-conscious because the restaurant was packed. Most of the things on their menu were not available, so we ended up asking what were available and getting those instead. The shrimp tempura was really cute, because it looked a cocktail. The other dish we ordered was just fried chicken. We had to do with what they had. I love that they have a band, but Kevin did not like that at all, because it was too loud and it was difficult for us to talk. This is a pretty happening place, I think of all the restaurants we went to in Siquijor, this had the most people. I suggest going a little earlier so there are more food options.

Balete Bistro

We left our room quite late on this day and we were supposed to have lunch first before starting our Lazi tour. However, I didn’t see any restaurants at all between Cliff Garden and our first stop, which is the Old Enchanted Balete Tree. But I know that there is a restaurant right where the tree is, so that’s where we had our lunch. I was really not in the mood for rice that day so I ordered bam-e, which is a combination of canton and bihon. Also, I wanted Kevin to try pancit. We also ordered sizzling shrimp and garlic rice for Kevin. The pancit at this restaurant is probably my favorite out of all the food we ordered in Siquijor. I just really like pancit, ok? LOL.

Uptoyou Bar & Restaurant

We spent our morning at Solangon Beach and this was the closest resort to where we were, so we decided to drop by for lunch. We actually ended up staying here for a few hours because there were no other guests at the restaurant, and we had the best spot, which was right at the beachfront. The mobile data signal was also strong, so we got to do a lot of our online tasks from here. LOL. It’s such a bummer that I didn’t take any photos here because it was beautiful and I really liked what I ordered! We agreed to eat vegetables that day so I ordered tortang talong, Kevin ordered chopseuy, plus 3 orders or rice. Tortang talong is one of my favorites ever, so I asked for an extra half cup of rice. They also had Cali Shandy in a bottle! I don’t think I’ve seen that before. I’m so bummed I didn’t take a photo of that!

Salamandas Restaurant

Kevin wanted to eat at Sunset Restaurant, I think he saw it on Tripadvisor or something. Upon checking, it is the #2 restaurant in Siquijor, according to Tripadvisor members. I spent a few minutes of my afternoon trying to make a reservation – I called three different numbers, emailed and messaged on Facebook, I couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Turns out, this restaurant is at Coco Grove Beach Resort, we were here two days before, so we are aware that this is the best resort in Siquijor. It’s just disappointing that it’s so hard to reach them.

We decided to just go to Coco Grove after our massage and make our reservation but we were afraid we would miss out on the sunset so we asked if we could do walk-in. The Sunset Restaurant is currently closed, and only the other restaurant, Salamandas is open. We didn’t mind at all because it is the same location anyway. We had a really good spot for the sunset and the full moon as it became darker. I mean, we had the same view from this beach two days before. We ordered some drinks (iced coffee for me, iced tea for Kevin), I think it was meat lovers’ pizza and French fries. I wasn’t really hungry that night, I think I had one or two slices of pizza and some fries. I can’t find their full menu anywhere, so I can’t cross-check what exactly we ordered. We really enjoyed our dinner here, though. The service is excellent, the staff is accommodating, the food is good, the ambiance is so chill and the view is impeccable.

White Villas Resort

Address: Solangon, San Juan, Siquijor 6227, Philippines
Opening hours: Google says 24 hours and their Facebook page says “Always open”, but I’m not really sure if this is correct.

I have dined here before, so I know that the food here is good. When we moved to our last accommodation in Siqujor, we ended up hanging out here for two days straight in a row, which means, we ate here for two days in a row as well. It’s so funny because I think we spent more time here than in our own accommodation as if we are checked in here instead. LOL. Kevin just liked this place better and I don’t mind because I love their iced coffee here.

On the first day, I ordered tortang talong (again, I know!) and rice, Kevin ordered tapa with rice, plus a side order of fries. I don’t know how they do their iced coffee, but it’s so good! I just remember that the coffee is from Bais, Negros Oriental. On the second day, I didn’t have lunch because I wasn’t really hungry, but Kevin ordered kilawin and fries, so I just ate some of his fries. But I ordered another coffee, of course. I contemplated ordering something sweet, but in the end, I didn’t really get any. I was on my period at this point, so my stomach is not normal. LOL. Basically, I just needed coffee to function.

Monkey Business

This is a really Instagram-famous restaurant, but we didn’t eat here the last time I was in Siquijor because we didn’t really like the vibe. Kevin and I decided to come here for dinner because it was close to our last accommodation. It also doesn’t have really good reviews on Tripadvisor, but I didn’t really find anything terrible about the restaurant when we dined here. There was a band playing – I really enjoyed that and wished we stayed longer. We were here maybe 8pm-ish, since that’s our normal dinner time and both our orders were available. We were recommended some drinks by someone we met at our accommodation a few hours earlier, I really enjoyed the iced coco coffee, Kevin didn’t really like his lemongrass tea. LOL. I ordered nasi goreng, which I liked but couldn’t finish – per usual, Kevin finished my meal for me because he ate his meal quite fast. For the life of me, I couldn’t remember what he ordered.

I think the service was fine because they were offering that we move to another table since we were going to have dinner. The orders also came fast and there were no issues with paying for our meals. I really wish we could have stayed longer, I wanted to hear more of the music.

Dolce Amore

This is the best restaurant in all of Siquijor per Tripadvisor, also the most expensive. HAHA. It was also our last night in Siquijor when we dined here so I guess we saved the best for last. I guess, it is pretty clear why this is the best restaurant in the island. The chef/owner personally goes to each table to ask if the customers need anything or if we need help with anything on the menu. I love that it’s an open kitchen, we could see it clearly from our table. The toilets are also really clean and they provide fresh towels for handwashing.

The food is really delicious and the portions are huge! I could barely finish my pasta, I felt like my plate was bottomless. I ordered the tagliatelle speck pasta, Kevin ordered the Paliton pizza, and then we both had their healthy shakes, but I can’t find the names anywhere. We were hesitant to try this restaurant at first, but I’m so glad we did! Definitely recommended, but I’m sure it being the #1 restaurant on Tripadvisor is enough to make anyone try Dolce Amore, LOL!

Das Traum Restaurant

I just included this because it’s where I had some snacks after buying my ferry ticket to Dumaguete and I had some time to kill before I really needed to be at the port. I should’ve had coffee here, I don’t know why I didn’t because Kevin did while I was queueing at the ticket office. But I did buy these camote rolls and oh my goodness, they were so good. I wished I bought a bunch of them. That would have easily fed me the whole day.
