Quarantine Diaries # 11: In-between lockdown shenanigans

It’s been a while since I’ve done a quarantine diaries entry! And I think this is the perfect time because we are in lockdown again and everything is closed again. I literally went out with friends like 4 times since I got home in mid-May, and starting Aug 5, ECQ started again. I had plans with friends scheduled during this time, but obviously, those got canceled because no more indoor and outdoor dining starting Jul 31 and indoor tourist attractions like museums also closed immediately. Such a bummer since we have been waiting for that museum day for over a month. ๐Ÿ™ Anyway… on to these pre-lockdown Season 3 shenanigans (and other stuff).

Bamboo Marikina

Mine and I have been wanting to do karaoke for a while now and we finally did in early July. She recommended this place called Bamboo Marikina, which is located very close to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall. It is in Marikina, but it’s like 25 minutes away from my home, so it is really not that far. Ok, their karaoke room only costs PHP150/hour. With that price, I really don’t mind traveling to Marikina to take advantage of their karaoke rooms! We ended up singing for 5 freaking hours and getting a bit tipsy on Smirnoff Mule. It’s been so long since I’ve had a really good karaoke night and I can’t wait to do this again!

The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery

It’s so funny because Gelai and I set this up so I can give her swimsuit that was delivered to our room in Boracay after she left in late March. But I totally forgot to bring it – that was such a failure on my part. LOL. Anyway, we had a late lunch / early dinner at Fast Seed Cafe and I have been seeing this during my walks because they open really early. I had the chili garlic bacon pasta and cold brew and the pasta had a huge serving and so worth the price! They totally didn’t skimp on the bacon! The place is super grammable and cozy, too.

Walk walk walk

I had some sort of “seasonal depression” due to the rainy season so I decided to start doing morning walks. I thought I just needed to get out for a few hours at least a few times a week. Walking in the morning is perfect for me because I do it after work and at around 6am, there is not a lot of people out yet. But since we are currently in quarantine again, that had to be paused as well. I am excited to start doing this again, too. So now, when it is raining, I just feel hecka depressed and as gloomy as the freaking weather.

Braces Update!

I have made so much progress with my teeth in just half a year! Actually, my lower teeth’s alignment was better around the third month, but since I was in Boracay then, I couldn’t go to my dentist. It is still being fixed, but that was my initial goal when I decided to have braces on and I’m already happy with it. But now, I think my upper teeth need fixing because I’m seeing visible gaps. Buuuut, so far, I am happy with the results so far. Hopefully, I can go for an adjustment next week.

I rarely talk about work, but I think I have blogged a few times about how much I love my company and at the moment, I really can’t find any reason to leave. Oh, a side story, I got a LinkedIn Inmail from someone from EY a few months ago and I entertained the idea for a bit because I was curious about the salary. Ultimately, though, I just put it to rest. Anyway, back to the main topic… For the past 8 months, I’ve had good news after good news after good news, and I cannot be grateful enough for these opportunities. 2020 was a tough year for everyone and I wasn’t even expecting anything. But this year so far, I got a salary increase, year-end bonus, and now a promotion (that comes with a salary increase as well). I love love love my job and my friends know I love talking about what we do because I’m just so proud of it. All of these things that I have received and achieved this year are just the cherry on top – as corny as it may sound. I’m super thankful and I’m just happy to have a very supportive manager and a job I am passionate about. I cannot wait for what’s to come. ^^

Till the next quarantine diaries!
